China and TaiwanChina is suffering greatly because of the gigantic sulfur dioxide emissions. 258 cities are at severe risk of health hazards, building decay and damage to scenic places.
The continuous acid rains that have fallen, have irreversibly damaged the largest Buddhist statue in the world and centuries old colonial buildings. The Chinese city of Dalian had an acid rain percentage of 51.7, as recorded in 2007. China is also the world's third largest acid rain region. The Yangtze River has had more and more smog recorded coming off of it in the last few days, and is becoming more and more acidic. These countries have failed to curb environmental deterioration, and will pay a huge price for this in the coming years. |
